Utah Realtor Achieves Personal Best in Sales

Technology and Attitude Named as the Secret for Success

Despite the challenges of the current housing market, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Realtor Shelly Tripp, of 20 years in real estate, has managed to achieve an all time personal best in real estate sales. A long-time top producer, Tripp attributes her success to two main things: a great Web site and a positive attitude.

Around two and half years ago, Tripp felt strongly that she needed to invest in a Web site that could be easily found and easily navigated. Within two months of the site being launched, Tripp revceived 6 to 8 thousand visitors and month with many qualified leads coming from these new prospects. Even with the challenges in the market, the Web site still generates many of her leads.

“I realized everything was coming down to technology,” said Tripp. “It was a big investment that I was scared to make, but the Web site has paid off in a big way.”

Tripp ranks her attitude as just as important in her success. Each year she chooses motivational phrases which she says to herself everyday and when feeling discouraged. This year Shelly lives by these phrases one by Abraham Lincoln, “You are as happy as you make up your mind to be.” The other comes from Walt Disney “Keep moving forward.”

“I choose to be happy, and people like being around happy people,” said Tripp. “Real estate is a hard business, lots of things go wrong but the important thing is how you deal with the challenge. Life was hard for me from the beginning and I think that’s given me a different attitude than most people that keeps me moving forward.”

Tripp grew up in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. where she lived on the streets at the age of fourteen after her grandmother, who cared for Tripp and her younger brother, passed away. Tripp came to Utah as a foster child and feels a strong pull to give back to the community and currently mentors at-risk youth.

Tripp was the founder and chairman of “Kids Fest” which raises money to build shelters for abused children at the Christmas Box House and is now on the Board of Directors. She also works with various non-profit groups such as U Foster Success, Africa is Life Changing, and used to work with Southern Cross Humanitarian
